Purpose: Purpose behind gathering AddHealth data was providing unique opportunities to study how social environments and behaviors in adolescence are linked to health and achievement outcomes in young adulthood.
Study design: Data was collected from 80 high schools which were selected to represent US schools with respect to region of country, urbanicity, size, type, and ethnicity. Data was collected with In-School questionnaire, In-Home Interview, Vocabulary data, Spatial data, School Administrator Questionnaires, Parentand Partner Questionnaire and CAPI/CASI. Observations were also made about participants biological data to stydy health trajectories.
Time frame: Study has been split into five phases or Waves targeting different participant data. First Wave was conducted between years 1994-1995, Wave 2 in year 1996, Wave 3 between years 2001-2002 and Wave 4 in year 2008. Wave 5 is ongoing and is targeted on years 2016-2018.
